The Raising EQ Podcast is Live

It was a pipe dream. Something I had been thinking about for years. If I am honest, it started when I was twelve years old. I fell in love with Oprah and what she was doing. I wanted to be just like Oprah. I wanted to talk to people. I love talking to people. But the dream slipped to the back of my mind until my late teens, when Howard Stern entered my life. How cool I thought he was! My dream of being on TV or radio was back. I remember my friends saying, “You will be one day, just wait.” I wasn’t sure, but I definitely wanted in.

I love talking to people, but I love listening even more.

I absolutely love hearing people’s stories. I often get caught talking to strangers I've just met for hours. The other day, I met a lovely elderly woman walking alone in the park. We chatted about her life, her dreams, her work as a producer, and the many famous people she used to know. She opened up about how lonely she feels now, growing older without a partner or children. We talked about the ups and downs of life, all while my baby slept in the stroller. It was beautiful.

So why share this story? Because it was listening—really listening—and my deep love of people that pushed me to leave my advertising career and become a clinical psychologist. After years of studying and working with countless families, I now feel compelled to share the tools I’ve learned with a wider audience.

I want to make parenting tools more accessible.

Not only that, but I also want to share a skill that was deeply ingrained in me from a very young age: emotional intelligence. I was always told I was an old soul. With time, I’ve come to understand that this has meant I had a strong emotional intelligence from an early age. Even though I had it, as I became a psychologist and a mother, my emotional intelligence continued to grow. I began to see just how powerful it was in helping the children and families I worked with. No matter their family dynamics or mental health challenges, raising the family’s emotional intelligence always helped.

Fast forward to now, and I’m finally bringing my dream to life.

The Raising EQ Podcast

For a long time, I have considered sharing knowledge and support with you through a podcast. For even longer, I have wanted to share and talk to people on TV or radio. In my personal life, I enjoy listening to growth mindset podcasts while walking, commuting, or doing household chores, and I feel excited about the opportunity to be in your ear in the same way. So I have taken the plunge!

I have created a podcast to share practical ways to help you and your family raise your emotional intelligence. The format includes solo episodes with me, multi-expert episodes featuring guests I believe you’ll find valuable, and live parent support sessions where I answer any questions they may have.

My hope is that this podcast becomes another meaningful way to support you on your journey towards raising emotionally intelligent, thriving children and feeling more confident in the process.
